Vegetarian diets don't provide enough protein
There are plenty of plant based proteins (beans, legumes, nuts, seeds and soy products) that can meet your daily protein needs as well as the amino acids that your body needs however like anything it requires good planning.
Tracking what you eat using an app such as My Fitness App is a great way to measure your intake. Not only does it track your meals, but can also
track you macro nutrients (fat, protein and carbohydrates).
Check out some of my plant based proteins!

Carbohydrates cause weight gain
We need carbohydrates !! Ok here is my attempt at simplifying the explanation.
Carbohydrates are one of the body's main fuel sources that our body needs, carbs help our body function properly. How ? They provide ENERGY !!
Our body breaks down carbohydrates into glucose which is the main source of energy for your body's cells, tissues, and organs (so cool).
I'm sure you heard runners use the term "carb up" before a big race, well that's because carbs top two functions are to provide energy and store energy. However you don't need to be running a marathon to benefit, eating a balanced breakfast can provide you the energy to push through your morning. Now with that being said if you have stored energy and not using then yes in a nut shell the excess is converted into fat which moves around to other parts of the body and then is stored as body fat. Soooo make carbs your friend, eat balanced and incorporate regular activity !
Snacking is BAD
Not only do snacks help keep you full and provide energy in between meals, but when you plan ahead can actually assist in reaching your nutritional goals, but you have to be mindful about it.
You know exactly what I'm talking about... the chips, cookies and sugary drinks are not going to be of great benefit. Stick to fruits, veggies, nuts or yogurt.
Check out some of my favorite easy snacks!
Avocado toast w/ smoked salmon
Yogurt and berries
Cherry tomatoes, cubed cheese and whole wheat crackers
Cottage cheese and tomato toast
All the fruits and veggies !!
Tuna avocado and tomato salad on celery sticks
A protein shake
You have to "Juice" to detox
Our amazing bodies have the capability to detox naturally using our liver, kidneys, skin, and breath!! These organs git rid of toxins and waste from our body. Its crucial that we maintain those organs functioning properly. How? Stay hydrated ! Yes these organs NEED water to flush out impurities in our bodies so drink your H2o. The breath is also such a powerful tool, 70 percent of toxins in the body are released through deep breathing. AMAZING !
If you don't meditate, do yoga, Pilates or SOME type of breath work I strongly suggest looking into it to really take your deep breathing to the next level. If your in the Long Beach area (California) check out https://www.yogalutionmovement.com/
Frozen fruits and vegetables are not as fresh
Frozen produce contain just as much nutrition as fresh produce.
When produce is frozen it is done so at its peak ripeness locking in all the good nutrients, vitamins and minerals. You may have noticed that often frozen berries taste sweeter than fresh produce and its because overtime (sitting on the shelf) fresh produce begin to loose nutrients, vitamins and minerals. So don't be shy with the frozen isle after all it is also very convenient to store for when your craving a cold smoothie or feel like cooking up a stir fry. Which ever you prefer the bottom line is consuming either frozen or fresh fruits and vegetables is still 100% better than not consuming any at all.
Well there you have it, just a few myths busted. I hope this sparks your interest to re-learn things (any topic) that we often just shy away from because of a bad reputation or miss-information. Your best bet is to learn, whatever your curious about. Pick up a book or take a course. As always brought to you from a place of love.
